Holidays in Folegandros

Ampelos was created out of our love for the island of Folegandros with its nature, people, history and unique Greek atmosphere. We view it as our mission to pass on our love and knowledge about Folegandros uniqueness.

It is a feast for the eye, the painter or the photographer. The contrast of rough landscape, white houses, the blue sea and the famous clear light has enchanted artists for decades.

What to do
Folegandros is situated in the Southern Cyclades, between Sikinos and Milos.
Folegandroes enjoys a superb climate. Situated with the Aegean Sea to the north and the Cretan Sea to the south, the cooling Meltemi winds soften the strongest heat of the sun, even in the middle of summer.

The island is only 32 square kilometers, 13 km long and 4 km wide, despite its small size, the dramatic landscape makes it seem much larger.

Cliffs, rugged canyons and small, almost inaccessible beach coves give the island a wild and raw beauty that characterizes the Cyclades.

Beaches
Folegandros has beautifull small beaches which can be reached by car, by local bus, by foot or by fishing boats departing daily from the port which can take you from beach to beach.

The island's finest beaches are sandy Angali and Katergo. Other good beaches are Agios Nikolaos, Livadaki, Agios Georgios.

The island also have an underwater paradise for snorklers.

Nightlife
Chora comes alive at night. Social life concentrates in the squares where tavernas offer local food against a backdrop of red geraniums and under purple bougainvilleas. If you stay after the restaurants have closed you'll get a glimpse of the local people transforming a square into a venue for impromptu Greek dancing and songs into the small hours.

Folegandros has a fantastic bar scene, famous for its live music. There are dancing.
